Kripa
The highly skilled, deeply conflicted royal martial arts preceptor (Kripacharya) who survived the apocalyptic war through sheer immortality and pragmatic survival skills. Born magically from a clump of grass infused with an ascetic's seed, he and his sister Kripi were discovered and adopted by King Shantanu, later becoming the initial weapons instructor for both the Pandava and Kaurava factions before Drona's arrival. Tied to the Hastinapura throne by profound financial obligations and his sister’s marriage to Drona, he fought fiercely for Duryodhana during the war despite holding deep affections for the Pandavas. He was one of the only three surviving Kaurava commanders following the eighteen-day slaughter, participating in the cowardly, horrific midnight massacre of the sleeping Pandava camp led by Ashwatthama. As an immortal, he outlived the destruction, eventually serving as the teacher to Arjuna's grandson Parikshit, representing the continuity of martial knowledge through eras of catastrophic change.
