Parikshit
The incredibly crucial, sole surviving biological heir to the massive Kuru dynasty, whose very existence represents the fragile, devastatingly costly continuation of the lineage following the holocaust of Kurukshetra. The son of the slaughtered teenager Abhimanyu and Princess Uttara, his survival was severely threatened before he was even born when the psychopathic Ashwatthama vindictively launched the apocalyptic Brahmashira weapon directly into Uttara's womb. Miraculously protected by the microscopic intervention of Lord Krishna's divine energy within the womb, he was born completely still and had to be resurrected by Krishna, earning his name 'Parikshit' (the tested one). Left as the undisputed emperor of a deeply traumatized, empty world when the Pandavas abandoned the throne for their final journey, his eventual fatal mistake of insulting a meditating sage resulted in a terrifying curse that he would be bitten by the serpent king Takshaka. His impending assassination directly prompts the massive recitation of the Bhagavata Purana by Sage Shuka to him in his final days, bridging the Mahabharata epic into the subsequent eras of Puranic mythology.
